East Coast Road Trip

Planning this trip became half the fun as I perused over RandMcNally maps and AAA tour books. My binder filled up as I compiled friendly suggestions and dreamt of quaint coastal villages along the eastern seaboard.

Taking a red-eye flight today, I hope to partake a huge bite of the Big Apple again for 4 whole days. Hubby started work last Wednesday at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan but will be available for after-hours fun as in the past.

On our 5th day, Hubby will turn his business trip to a vacation as we start early for a leisurely coastal drive; making a few stops along the way in Mystic CT, Newport RI and overnighting at Cape Cod MA.

We plan to head out further on our 6th day to Boston MA with a stop to see the Plymouth rock.

Coasting to Maine on our 7th day, we will pass villages by the sea and will spend the night at Portland-By-The-Bay.

Then on to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on our 8th day making sure we'll fill up on lobsters.

Our 9th and 10th days will be spent mostly on the road inland back to New York. Depending on our excitement and energy levels, we plan to make a stop at an Ivy League school and/or Hyde Park.

We’ll leave our hearts in Manhattan on the 11th day as we scamper for souvenir items and last taste at the hotdog stand before hailing a cab to JFK in the afternoon.

I maybe able to hook up Hubby’s laptop to blog while on this trip so come back for updates and pictures.

"Wynn"ing in Las Vegas and a Thanksgiving Birthday

While at a recently concluded summer trade show, Hubby took photos of Wynn, the newest luxury hotel in Las Vegas. I can’t wait to go early next year for the next trade show when it’s no longer sizzling hot. More construction photos validate that many of us are still plunking huge portions of our paychecks there.

Segueing to another event, we were at Redondo Beach last Saturday to count our blessings most especially for a sister who’s always picking up the slack. Her birthday was celebrated with cholesterol-laden fresh crabs and the cool, crisp sea air of the Pacific Ocean. Click here to see a few photos.

Everyone's Waiting

One of the many simple pleasures of our Sunday nights is that Hubby and I enjoy cuddling to watch together our favorite TV shows. One of which is HBO’s Six Feet Under. With much anticipation and regret, the final episode of its 5-season run aired last Sunday entitled “Everyone’s Waiting”. Try to catch this series if you haven’t had a chance. Past episodes are out on DVDs and perhaps soon it will be syndicated at other networks like TBS.

Salon’s TV critic Heather Havrilesky aptly summed it all up:

"Six Feet Under" presents us with an ambiguous universe, but its message isn't the least bit ambiguous: You have one life, one very short life, to enjoy, to embrace, to dive in, to try new things, to see the world, to love someone dear, to appreciate the little things. Or, as Nate might say, you have one life to live. Don't (%#$*) it up.

International Foodfest

Foodies like me always look forward to our annual international foodfest at work kicking off the summer season. My cassava pudding/cake was back by popular demand. My apologies for this delayed posting of the pictures. My homeputer was attacked by spyware and it took all this time for Hubby to fix it.

In Memory of Auntie Lucing

Much to our shock and disbelief, we were told the day that we planned to go visit Auntie Lucing at the hospital that she passed away the midnight before. She had long suffered from a family history of diabetes and its inevitable complications. She was a lovely and gracious grandaunt to Hubby and me. Her pioneering spirit and love for family will live within us. We will always celebrate the full life she lived.
